The New Mexico Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the “Copper Rule” case on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. GRIP, Amigos Bravos, Turner Ranch Properties, former NMED Groundwater Quality Bureau Chief Bill Olson and NM Attorney General Hector Balderas asked the state’s high court to set aside the Rule and require the Water Quality Control Commission to adopt a regulation that protects groundwater quality from copper mine contamination.
Chief Justice Charles Daniels said the court would take the arguments under consideration. No date was given for a decision.
