Register/Volunteer 2018 Earth Day Celebration – April 21, 10am-2pm, Gough Park
Join more than 30 organizations and businesses for Silver City’s annual Earth Day Celebration!
This year’s theme, End Plastic Pollution, focuses on the global plastic problem and ways to address it. Plastics litter our landscape, clog waterways, and pollute our oceans, and growing evidence shows how they contribute to health problems in humans and animals. By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans! In our area, plastic can kill wildlife when they become entangled or ingest it. This is a problem we can help solve by cleaning up plastic trash, drastically reducing the amount of plastic used, and recycling 100% of the rest.
The Town of Silver City Recycling Advisory Committee will also hold an E-Waste Recycling and Paper Shredding Event to take place as part of the Earth Day Celebration.
If you’d like to help out with Earth Day planning, please attend our next meeting on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 am in the GRIP office at 305A N. Cooper St.
Register for a booth space by April 6th by filling out the registration form and return to GRIP at 305A N. Cooper St, Silver City, NM 88061. Make checks payable to GRIP.
And….we need volunteers! If you’re interested in helping out the day of the Earth Day Celebration, please contact Doyne Wrealli, GRIP Program Associate, at earthendoyne@gmail.com or call 575-297-9734.
We look forward to your participation in the 2018 Earth Day Celebration!
